Winning the Dieting and Weight Loss Battle
Welcome to Dieting Tips, Etc.! If you want to lose weight the healthy way, you've come to the right place.
So how is Dieting Tips, Etc. different from all of the other gazillion weight-loss blogs on the Web? Well, first of all Dieting Tips, Etc. doesn't just give you the sole perspective of one single person.
There are three of us here, all with different life stories and all with VERY different weight-loss experiences. I'll introduce us in a moment.
Another huge difference between Dieting Tips, Etc. and other weight loss columns, blogs, articles and advice is that we take the "admittedly human" approach to weight loss.
What's the "admittedly human" approach to dieting?
It starts by recognizing that everyone "cheats" on their diets. Unfortunately, many of the "experts" in the diet world look upon cheating as if it were a mortal sin - one that you'll never recover from. Come on! Get real! We ALL cheat on our diets, and what matters is what you do AFTER your slipup.
Many people think it's all over the moment they stray from their diet plan and they throw the entire effort out the door. Smart people, however, realize that we're all human and we are going to succumb to temptation once in a while -- and they get right back on the horse after they topple off.
The act of jumping right back on the weight-loss horse is the "admittedly human" approach. You admit you made a mistake, and then you move beyond it and go back to your healthier ways.
OK, now let me introduce you to our "admittedly human" dieting team:
I'm Jennifer Anderson. I was never exactly skinny during my childhood, but after I had kids a thin person could stand behind me and you wouldn't even have known they were there! For some reason, pregnancy just seems to act as a weight magnet for me.
After getting sick and tired of my three-year-old asking me why I was fat (out of the mouths of babes...), I decided to take matters into my own hands and I began to research literally every weight loss method, plan and product out there.
In the process, I learned what works and what doesn't, and I now know what's healthy and what's not. If there's one thing I love more than the new and improved me, it's helping other people achieve their weight loss goals. That's why I became a member of the Dieting Tips, Etc. team.
You'll also meet J.D. Stevens during your adventures. J.D. was the ideal athlete in high school. As he grew older a high caloric intake and a sedentary lifestyle led to serious weight gain. He started packing on the pounds until he was literally morbidly obese.
J.D. knew things were getting out of hand, but it really didn't concern him too much -- until his doctor told him he was putting his life at risk. That's when J.D. decided to take action.
J.D. did a 180 turnaround. He exercised every day and ate healthy. Sure, he skipped a day of exercise every now and then and he did eat the occasional "sweet" but J.D. worked through it and he is now back to his ideal weight. J.D. learned a lot during the weight-loss process and he loves sharing his knowledge with other people working on weight loss goals.
Our third team member is Sarah Hendricks. When Sarah's scale hit the 180-pound mark, she decided she'd had enough. According to her doctor, Sarah's ideal weight is 125 pounds. Sarah was 55 pounds overweight.
Sarah worked hard to lose weight, and she's still working towards her goal of 55 pounds. She's already down to 155 pounds, with thirty pounds to go. She's almost halfway there! Sarah knows how important encouragement is and she loves telling uplifting stories and motivating people who really want to take off the extra pounds.
So that sums us up and what we're here to accomplish. Get ready to get thin and get healthy -- we're going to be with you every step of the way.
