Are Commercial Diets Worth the Cost?
Considering the Financial Aspect of Commercial Diets
There are many popular commercial diets on the market these days. Weight Watchers, Jenny Craig, and LA Weight Loss, just to name a few. While the fee structure varies, one thing remains the same -- all of these commercial diets cost money. The question is, are they worth it?
Sometimes The Price is Right
Looking on the surface, these diets appear to be one more unnecessary bill to pay. After all, why spend more on food when you’re trying to eat less? The truth is, the price of commercial diets may be worth the investment.
Individual Weight Loss Needs
Whether or not commercial diets are worth the investment really depends on your particular weight loss needs. If you just want to lose a few extra pounds and you have the discipline to do it yourself, you probably shouldn’t spend the money on a weight loss program.
On the other hand, if you want to lose a considerable amount of weight and you just don’t have the time, willpower or patience to manage your own diet, commercial diets may be the answer. It’s much easier to have someone plan your meals (and even prepare them as is the case with some commercial diets) than to have to do it all yourself.
The Actual Cost
If commercial diets are right for you, it’s time to analyze the actual cost. If you eat out a lot right now, you’re probably already spending more money on food than you realize and the price of commercial diets won’t be too much of a stretch.
Also, another factor to consider (and this may be the most important aspect of all) -- there really is no price tag you could place on a successful long-term diet. After all, if commercial diets lead to long-term weight loss and health, isn’t it worth it?
