Diet Beverages Can Destroy Your Diet
Why You Should Choose Water Over Diet Beverages
If you are currently on a diet, you might want to avoid diet beverages. It might seem illogical to you considering manufacturers use the word “diet” to describe their products, but if you are serious about losing weight you should stick with water. Diet beverages are, unbelievably, not the best choice for individuals who are trying to lose a few extra pounds.
Wash The Fat Out
Water is your best possible beverage choice when you are trying to lose weight. Water has a cleansing effect on the body and helps the body eliminate toxins. Water can also curb your appetite so you consume fewer calories throughout the day. Try to drink at least eight glasses of water each day. If you don’t fill up on diet beverages, drinking enough water should be relatively easy.
Fruit Is Great -- Juice Isn’t
In addition to avoiding diet beverages, you should also avoid fruit juices. Even though fruit juices are supposed to be healthy, they are not always the best choice for dieters. Juice tends to contain a concentrated amount of calories, and many brands contain added sugar -- which provides someone on a diet nothing but empty calories. While whole fruit does contain fruit juice, it also contains fiber which is very healthy for your diet. Fruit juice doesn’t offer that benefit.
Diet soda definitely isn’t a good choice for dieters. Most diet soda contain aspartame, which has undesirable side effects for some people. If you are faced with cramps, pain, and anxiety attacks -- all of which have been attributed to aspartame consumption -- you will be more likely to cheat on your diet. It is hard to follow a diet when you aren’t feeling your best. The few calories you save by drinking diet beverages containing no calories will cause you to overeat eventually, which will quickly sabotage your diet. Also, if you drink diet beverages, you will be less likely to consume enough water and you run the risk of becoming dehydrated.
If you are trying to diet and lose weight, reevaluate your choice of beverages. You just may find the missing link in your diet is the fact that you don’t drink enough water. Ditch the diet beverages and opt for water instead!
