Are Diet Supplements As Safe As They Claim To Be?

Let’s face it, there’s no shortage of diet supplements on the market. If I had a dollar for every diet supplement that promised a tiny waistline without the need for diet or exercise, I’d be rich. As inconvenient as it may be, there isn’t any such thing as a “magic diet pill” and when diet supplements promise drastic weight loss without any effort, they’re trying to sell you a dangerous bridge.

What You Need To Know About Diet Supplements

Is it possible to lose weight without a healthy diet and regular exercise? Not usually -- however, there are some instances that do enable people to do so. Let me review them for you:

--Illness
--Parasites
--Dangerous substances (crack, meth, cocaine, etc.)

I think you get my point.

Unless you have a medical condition (such as a thyroid disorder) there isn’t a pill in the world that’s going to safely melt away your extra pounds without some effort on your part.

Even the diet supplements that recommend following a healthy diet and exercising regularly aren’t always safe.

Does Natural Mean Safe?

Don’t assume that I’m only referring to the synthetic diet supplements when I say diet supplements can be dangerous. The only thing “natural” means is that the ingredients are not man-made. Arsenic and mercury are natural substances too -- that doesn’t mean you want to ingest them. Just because some diet supplements tout their natural origins, don’t assume they’re safe to use.

Only Your Doctor Knows For Sure

The only way you’ll know for sure if a diet supplement is safe is if you take it to your doctor and have him approve the ingredients list. Your doctor will know if any of the ingredients will hurt you or if they will interact with any medications you take.

Be Safe, Not Sorry

It’s always best to err on the side of caution when it comes to diet supplements. While there are indeed some quality diet supplements on the market that are generally safe to use, don’t make any assumptions and don’t buy any pie-in-the-sky stories about “magic beans” that will miraculously slenderize your figure.
